Will Audi repeat its Mexico pole at COTA

The No.8 Audi again topped the times at Circuit of The Americas in Free Practice 3 this morning – the final session before qualifying.

Audi’s Loic Duval was the only driver to break into the 1 minute, 45 second bracket with a time of 1:45.719

This was the biggest margin of the weekend so far – Duval’s time was 0.332 of a second quicker than Porsche’s Brendon Hartley.

The time is also considerably quicker than last year’s pole qualifying time of 1’46.211 recorded by Porsche’s Neel Jani and Marc Lieb.

Rebellion Racing’s Alexandre Imperatori recorded the fastest lap in LM P1 Privateer class at 1:52.538. The Rebellion was again the fastest car in a straight line this week so far with a fastest top speed of 303.4 recorded FP1.

Manor Racing’s Roberto Merhi put their Oreca-Nissan on the top of the timesheet in LM P2 at 1:55.696 just ahead of Bruno Senna’s RGR Ligier.

Aston Martin has continued its Mexico City winning form this morning. The fastest three cars in FP3 this morning in LM GTE Pro were Astons led by Marco Sorensen with a time of 2:03.368.

This was the first session of the week not led by the Ford GT which up until this morning had topped the times in both IMSA and FIA WEC competition in every session.

Kevin Estre has been fast on his return to the championship this weekend filling in for Patrick Long. Estre was fastest for Abu Dhabi-Proton Racing this morning in LM GTE Am with a time of 2:06.038

Qualifying is up next at 5:45pm for LM GTE Pro and AM followed by LM P1 and LM P2 qualifying at 6:15pm.
