Cameron ready for GT Daytona battle

January 4, 2014

2014 TUDOR United Sportscar Championship Daytona TestingDane Cameron shot to prominence as a prototype star of the future with stunning performances in the Daytona Prototype class in 2013 for Team Sahlens.

Cameron also helped Michael Guasch to the PC class ALMS championship after stepping in as co-driver for the last few races of 2013. However, Team Sahlens’ decision to not enter the new TUDOR United SportsCar Championship left the 25-year-old ex-Team USA Scholarship without a full-time ride for 2014 as 2013 drew to a close.

An opportunity quickly arose for Cameron with join forces with Turner Motorsport aboard their new European GT3-spec GT Daytona class BMW Z4. Cameron will drive with Canadian Paul Dalla Lana aboard the No.94 car.

“I’m really excited to be a part of Turner Motorsports in the new BMW Z4. It is going to be challenging for us here as we’re lacking a little in regards to top speed but I think we’re going to have a really good package over the course of the year,” Cameron said.

“That is what we’re really focussed on – coming away from Daytona with a good haul of points. We’re continuing to improve.

“I think the GT Daytona class is going to be absolutely insane to watch. It is going to be a lot of fun when you look at the teams that are preparing cars and the drivers who will start and finish in these machines, it will be quite a show for the championship.

“Last year was a lot of fun in prototypes but I’m now coming home to this class where I spent the previous couple of years before that.”
