Busy weeks of IMSA testing at Sebring

February 21, 2020

While IMSA testing at Daytona gets a wealth of pomp and circumstance, testing at Sebring has recently flown under the radar.

IMSA testing at Sebring this week and last week is private team running, not officially sanctioned. Through 2018, the Sebring test was an official part of the schedule.

Still though, this has been a busy week for teams getting in advance running ahead of next month’s Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring Presented by Advance Auto Parts.

From February 10 through February 21, these teams have run at Sebring:

  • Era Motorsport LMP2
  • Corvette Racing GTLM
  • AIM Vasser Sullivan Lexus GTD
  • PR1/Mathiasen Motorsports LMP2
  • WRT Speedstar Audi GTD
  • Acura Team Penske DPi
  • Mustang Sampling / JDC-Miller Cadillac DPi
  • JDC-Miller Cadillac DPi
  • Whelen Engineering Cadillac DPi
  • Porsche GT Team GTLM
  • Heinricher Racing with MSR Acura GTD
  • Meyer Shank with Curb-Agajanian Acura GTD
  • Riley Motorsports Mercedes-AMG GTD
  • GEAR Racing Team powered by GRT Lamborghini GTD
  • Wright Motorsports Porsche GTD

Some rain interrupted running earlier this week before testing could resume.

A few more WeatherTech Championship teams will run March 4 and 5. A handful of IMSA MICHELIN Pilot Challenge and Prototype Challenge teams are testing the tail-end of this week.

In Pilot Challenge, Daytona winners Riley Motorsports rolled out a new Mercedes-AMG GT4 chassis alongside its Daytona winning one. Dylan Murry highlighted that on his Instagram stories on Thursday.

Last year’s Sebring race had a bevy of rain to start before drying out a few hours in.
