Briscoe on pole in sportscar return
Level 5 Motorsports dominated qualifying today for the P2 class, locking out the first two spots on the grid with Ryan Briscoe leading the way.
The Australian aboard the No.551 HPD ARX-03b stopped the clocks at 1 minute, 51.159 seconds to head teammate Ryan Hunter-Reay by .112 of a second.
The Greaves Motorsport Nissan Zytek was third with Tom Kimber-Smith at the wheel followed by the two new Extreme Speed Motorsport HPD entires.
“It’s great to be back in Sebring. I haven’t been here since 2008,” Briscoe said.
“It’s great to see the hard work from the crew pay off with the pole. It was like old times dialing with Hunter-Reay for the pole.
“It’s been interesting as usual; the track conditions change so much. The wind has a big effect on the car at this place.
“It’s been difficult to remain patient and not chase the conditions too much.”
