Bomarito set for WEC Ford GT debut in Sebring
Ford Performance has announced Jonathan Bomarito and Billy Johnson will round out its FIA World Endurance Championship lineup for the 1000 Miles of Sebring next month.
Bomarito’s inclusion is a new one to the Ford Chip Ganassi Racing program. However, he’ll enter a program that features familiar faces as his IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship with Mazda Team Joest does.

Bomarito will share the No. 67 Ford GT in the WEC race with Harry Tincknell and Andy Priaulx. Tincknell and Bomarito share the No. 55 Mazda RT24-P in IMSA full-time, with Olivier Pla joining for Michelin Endurance Cup races.
Pla, meanwhile, shares the WEC No. 66 Ford GT with Stefan Muecke, with Johnson their third driver at Sebring.

So this means all three No. 55 Mazda drivers from Daytona – Bomarito, Tincknell and Pla – will pull double duty between the FIA WEC and IMSA races at Sebring. Tristan Nunez, Oliver Jarvis, Timo Bernhard and Rene Rast shared the No. 77 Mazda at Daytona.
The common developmental link between the Mazda and Ford programs is Multimatic, the Canadian company which has played an integral part in both cars’ development.

The RT24-P is derived from the Multimatic LMP2 chassis. Multimatic’s relationship with Ford comes with the building of both the Ford GT and the Ford Mustang GT4.
By contrast, Johnson is a Ford GT regular. He has helped develop the Multimatic-built car since the program’s inception. He’s raced eight FIA WEC events with the Ford Chip Ganassi Racing team, winning at Spa in 2018. Additionally, he has raced with them at the 24 Hours of Le Mans each of the last three years.
