Former open-wheel stand-out Jonathon Summerton has some big shoes to fill and BMW Team RLL – taking over the wheel whenever Joey Hand is on DTM duty in Germany.

Summerton shone in Formula Atlantic and drove in Europe in Formula 3 and A1 Grand Prix.

In fact, he took the American A1 Grand Prix team’s first ever victory in the now defunct nation’s championship.

Summerton was scheduled to drive in the enduros at Sebring and Petit Le Mans and is also filling in at Road America and here at VIR.

Michelin Alley caught up with the American star who grew up in Kissemmee, Florida – just down the road from Sebring International Raceway.
