The temperature was on the rise and the times began to fall as the second practice session kicked off at Lime Rock Park today.

BMW’s Dirk Werner topped the times in the GTLM class with a lap of 51.164 as track temperatures rose to nearly 140 degrees (f) – the hottest track temp seen so far during the 2016 season.

The second practice session was staged around the same time as tomorrow’s race with similar weather predicted. This gave the teams an insight as to what to expect for the two hour, 40 minute race.

In the PC ranks at the front of the pack it was Colin Braun and CORE autosport leading the pack.

Braun was the only driver to get below the 49 second mark with a lap of 48.990. The talent packed PC pack following included Tom Kimber-Smith (2nd), Kyle Marcelli (3rd) and Alex Popow (4th).

In the GTD class it was Porsche to the forefront with Mario Farnbacher putting the Alex Job Racing-run Team Seattle entry on top of the timesheet from Robin Liddell’s Audi and Bret Curtis’s BMW.

Qualifying is up next from 4:3pm with GTD scheduled first followed by GTLM and PC.
