BMW runs like clockwork

January 26, 2014

bmwBMW may not have had the outright pace here at the Rolex 24 at Daytona, but the pair of Bobby Rahal-run Z4s have continued to run like clockwork as the race enters its final four hours.

At the 20 hour mark, the No.56 BMW was third with Graham Rahal behind the wheel. Bill Auberlen driving the No.55 car was just outside of the podium places in fourth place.

Both Porsche and Corvette have had a car retire and both SRT machines struck trouble through the night – but BMW have continued pushing ahead without incident.

“At the moment our car is running like clockwork. We are able to put in lap after lap and our times were okay as well,” Dirk Werner (BMW No.56) said.

“In addition, the traffic out there was less wild than in the beginning. I managed to drive for two hours without any full-course yellow.

“This was great fun. I hope we keep going like this. If we stay out of trouble and make no mistakes, then we might be able to put the cars ahead of us under pressure a bit. Let’s wait and see.”
