BMW going for three wins in a row at home

It could be a happy homecoming for the BMW team as they go for three wins in a row at Lime Rock Park.

Just 90 miles from the BMW of North America headquarters in Woodcliff Lake, New Jersey, Lime Rock Park serves as the home track for the BMW IMSA WeatherTech Sportscar Championship GTLM team.

Fresh off back to back wins at Watkins Glen International and Canadian Tire Motorsports Park, BMW comes into their home race with the No. 25 M6 GTLM running second in the championship.

“Wow, what a run we have going in our No. 25 BMW M6 GTLM,” Bill Auberlen, driver of the No. 25, said.

“In the last three races, we’ve finished second, first and first. That has put us second in the championship, just three points behind.

“The only thing on my mind is podium after podium that will lead to the championship at the end of the year.”

Auberlen and his teammate, Alexander Sims, even got to share the podium at Canadian Tire Motorsports Park with the sister No. 24 car of John Edwards and Martin Tomczyk in a 1-2 finish. Bolstered by two podium finishes in three races, Edwards and Tomczyk have moved up to seventh in the championship in time for BMW’s home race.

“It’s been a great few races for us and I’m excited to carry the momentum into Lime Rock,” Edwards said.

“This is the track where I had my first win as a BMW driver back in 2013 so I have some great memories here.

“The race is as close as we’ll get to a home race for BMW so it would be special to win here again.”
