Bergmeister/Long score big
Flying Lizard Motorsports Joerg Bergmeister and Patrick Long finished off the 2011 season in grand style by taking top ALMS points in the GT class in the final two races.
After winning at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, the pair was second overall the top finishing ALMS GT entrant at Petit.
However, a dramatic outside pass around a BMW to grab second with two laps remaining by Bergmeister helped more than just the team and the driver’s points tally.
That move was the deciding factor in Michelin clinching its 14th GT tire championship.
