Bennett & Braun take win #3
CORE autosport team owner Jon Bennett and his young-gun teammate Colin Braun charged to their third PC class victory of the season today at Virginia International Raceway.
With Alex Popow clinching the drivers title today aboard the No.06 CORE machine along with the team’s championship they clinched at Road America – 2012 has been a brilliant year for the Rock Hill, SC-based team.
Last season CORE drivers Gunnar Jeannette and Ricardo Gonzalez shared the PC driver’s crown with Eric Lux and the Morgan Brady-led outfit took the team’s championship.
For 2012, CORE has taken its performance to a new level – winning seven of the nine races and putting both championship trophies in the cabinet before they even get to next month’s Petit Le Mans.
Seven CORE drivers Popow, Bennett, Braun, Ryan Dalziel, Tom Kimber-Smith, Burt Frisselle and EJ Viso have been to victory lane. Kimber-Smith drove with Popow to third place today – earning the Venezuelan enough points to take the driver’s championship.
Michelin Alley caught up with team owner Bennett after today’s VIR 240.
