2013-08-09 at 16-53-52Jonathan Bomarito today again showed the SRT Viper will be a force to be reckoned with his second successive GT class pole today at Road America.

Twelve months after the the debut of the current spec Viper to ALMS competition, the American performance arm of Chrysler are flexing their muscles and proving to be strong contenders in the championship.

Bomarito stopped the clocks at 2:03.410 – the only man to dip into the 2 minute, 3 second mark. He actually scored pole with an enormous margin by GT standards – 0.802 of a second. He’ll share the car tomorrow with Canadian Kuno Wittmer.

“Really great day for us today. Team is doing a great job. The SRT team worked really hard overnight,” Bomarito said.

“We made quite a few changes from last practice to today. We knew it would be a lot cooler than yesterday. We really nailed it and it showed today. We’re going to have a great car for tomorrow. As a group, we really feel prepared for tomorrow’s race.

“It’s a really nice feeling to be a part of this weekend. And I’ve talked to the fans, they are giving great feedback on how excited they are. There are a lot of people who are drawn to this event to see all of these great series in one place.”

Corvette Racing’s Antonio Garcia was second fastest while Leh Keen – filling in for Bill Sweedler at Alex Job Racing – surprised to put the Ferrari third on the GT grid.
