Audi takes 12th Le Mans win

2013-06-23 at 08-25-12Audi signed off on the current LM P1 regulations by taking its 12 victory in 14 years at today’s Le Mans 24 Hour.

Tom Kristensen extended his record of nine wins at Le Mans while teammate Allan McNish took his third. Loic Duval – who set the pole on Wednesday – claimed his first Le Mans win.

2013-06-22 at 09-05-26Toyota’s Sebastien Buemi was able to get his Toyota back on the lead lap in the final half-hour to claim the runner-up spot with Anthony Davidson and Stephane Sarrazin.

OAK Racing claimed a one-two finish in LM P2 with Bertrand Baguette fighting back after a spin in the rain to take the win with former ALMS PC class champion Ricardo Gonzalez and Martin Plowman.

Richard Lietz/Marc Lieb/Romain Dumas took the GTE Pro victory after a race long battle with Aston Martin who were hopeful of a win after the tragic loss of pole winning GTE Am driver Allan Simonsen who died after a heavy impact at Tertre Rouge on lap 4.

Both the Corvette Racing and the SRT Motorsports squads struggled for speed all day. The Corvette of Jan Magnussen, Antonio Garcia and Jordan Taylor finished fourth ahead of the sister car in seventh.

The SRT Vipers finished eighth and ninth on their return to Le Mans for the first time since 2000.

Patrick Dempsey’s assault on the GTE Am class fell just short of the podium i fourth place with Joe Foster and Patrick Long.
