The FIA WEC teams took the track at the Circuit of The Americas this morning for their final practice session ahead of this evening’s qualifying for the Lone Star Le Mans.

Once again it was the Audi Sport Team Joest cars that took over the top spots, much like in the first practice session, however, this time it was the #1 Audi R-18 (DiGrassi/Duval/Kristensen) going quickest with a time of 1:49.480 seconds.

The #2 Audi (Fassler/Lotterer/Treluyer) registered a time of 1:50.160 with the #8 Toyota Racing TS 040 – Hybrid coming in third with a lap of 1:50.677.

Rounding out the top five were the #14 Porsche Team (Dumas/Jani/Lieb – 1:50.976) and the #7 Toyota Racing (Wurz/Sarrazin/Conway – 1:51.506).

The fastest privateer LM P1 was Rebellion Racing (Prost/Heidfeld/Beche – 1:54.417) in seventh place overall.

The two American teams in this weekend’s FIA WEC event, Corvette Racing (Taylor/Taylor/Milner – 2:07.106) and ESM Racing (Sharp/Dalziel/Brown – 1:58.004) came in seventh and third in their respective classes.

The G-Drive Racing (Rusinov/Pla/Canal – 1:56.601) team was quickest in LM P2 with the #99 (MacDowell/O’Young/Rees – 2:05.382) and #98 (Dalla Lana/Lamy/Nygaard – 2:06.198) Aston Martin Racing cars topping the charts respectively in GTE Pro and GTE AM.

The FIA WEC qualifying format is different than what American fans are used to in the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship. WEC teams must nominate two drivers to take part in the 25-minute session and each driver’s fastest lap time will then be added together to form the final grid.

WEC Qualifying at COTA will take place at 6:00 pm local time for LMGTE-PRO/AM and 6:35 pm for the LMP1 and LMP2 class.
