Audi: 2014 is all about fuel-efficiency

The Audi R18 e-tron quattro diesel hybrid’s that will race at Le Mans this weekend will be the most fuel-efficient in the famous four-ringed manufacturer’s history.

The Ingolstadt based manufacturer has been represented with various prototype designs and entries at the previous 15 Le Mans and has taken an incredible 12 overall victories.

The competition in the Hybrid driven LMP1 class in 2014 will be intense as Audi go head-to-head with rivals Toyota and Porsche.

Head of Audi Motorsport, Dr. Wolfgang Ulrich believes that although recent form suggests Toyota have the advantage, he insists that the special twice round the clock challenge of Le Mans is often a great leveller. “There have been years at Le Mans in which we were successful even though our car wasn’t the fastest one,” said Dr.Ulrich. “We can recognize the true picture only in the race. We aim to be perfect and to battle for victory with speed and reliability.”
