While Corvette has been the car to watch in GTLM class in the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship this year, this weekend’s race at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway could see another winner in victory lane if today’s practice sessions are any guide.

BMW’s Bill Auberlen topped the afternoon session with the Risi Competizione Ferrari of Giancarlo Fisichella second fastest for the second session in a row.

Pre-race balance of performance adjustments in GT Le Mans have tried to level the playing field.

The speed of Porsche, Ferrari and BMW has been helped by a .7mm increase in air restrictor size for the Porsche; a 30kg weight loss and .6mm larger restrictor plus a rear wing height adjustment for the Ferrari while BMW has lost 15kgs for this weekend. The dominant winning Corvette has gone up in weight by 25kg.

Additionally, the Porsche is permitted to use a 25 mm larger front splitter and reconfigured rear wing, while the Ferrari can run in its 2011 rear wing profile.

The Dodge Viper remains unchanged from how it raced at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park.

After the P2 car dominated the opening practice, it was time for the Corvette Daytona Prototypes to bounce back in session two with Joao Barbosa leading Richard Westbrook.

Other class leaders including Colin Braun in PC and ex-Champ Car racer Jan Heylen in GT Daytona.
