Anybody seen a black cat?
Jan Magnussen and Antonio Garcia led the GT championship last year after the Canadian Tire Motorsport Park round in Canada. Since then however, their luck hasn’t exactly been on their side.
As their 2012 campaign came to a sudden halt with a series of first corner incidents, minor issues and awful fortune, the Danish/Spaniard duo had their sights set on updated fortunes in 2013.
Joined with Jordan Taylor this weekend, Magnussen and Garcia however might have to go looking for the black cat which crossed their path.
Garcia started today’s 12 Hours of Sebring and ran into trouble early with contact with the CORE autosport PC car. A stop plus 1 minute penalty put him back in the pack but further trouble was soon to strike when he got stuck in gear.
The Corvette Racing squad made several trips to the paddock to eventually replace the entire gearbox – a remedy which didn’t solve the problem.
Eventually a minor issue with an electrical connector was discovered – after the gearbox had already been changed!
The resulting delay however has designated the rest of the day as a test session for Magnussen, Garcia and Taylor.
Michelin Alley caught up with Magnussen as he went hunting for black cats, kept away from ladders and tried to recall whether he had ever broken a mirror.
