9 hour update: Sebring 12 hour
You can’t please all the people, all of the time. The penalty box has been a busy place during the 12 Hours of Sebring as the event passed the 3/4 race distance.
While the Audi battle continued at the front with the No.2 car of di Grassi/Kristensen and McNish leading the No.1 of Fassler/Treluyer/Jarvis, the fight behind was getting heated.
Both the Muscle Milk HPD P1 machine and the No.4 Corvette was forced to head to the pits for a mandatory stop plus one minute penalties.
Both Klaus Graf and Richard Westbrook voiced their displeasure during the telecast on SPEED.
Graf made contact with the rear of the PC car of David Cheng who was on his out lap. The normally mild mannered Graf was very upset and vocal about the penalty which pushed his Muscle Milk squad back to fourth place.
Westbrook tapped the back of Bill Sweedler’s Ferrari at the hotel hairpin and later told SPEEDTV that the Ferrari driver had waved him through and then turned in on him.
Things went from bad to worse for Sweedler who suffered a heavy crash shortly afterwards ending his race.
With three hours to go the No.551 HPD of Scott Tucker/Marino Franchitti and Ryan Briscoe held the P2 lead while in GT Risi Competizione was again at the front with Gimmi Bruni, Olivier Beretta and Matteo Malucelli.
