3 Hour Update: Watkins Glen

July 2, 2017

The Corvette Racing No. 4 at the hands of Oliver Gavin leads as the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship series reaches halfway at Watkins Glen.

Gavin grabbed the lead by pitting just before the second yellow flag of the race. Despite running out front, Gavin has the slowest best laptime of the eight cars in GTLM racing, turning a 1:43.018.

The remaining seven competitors have all turned times within 0.332 seconds of each other, with John Edwards taking the fastest lap in class at 1:42.249 in the No. 24 BMW.

The No. 25 BMW sister car runs second at the halfway mark, followedby the pair of Porsches, with the 911 leading the 912.

The polesitting No. 66 Ford GT has slipped to fifth, just in front of the No.67—also from the Ford stable—and the pace setting No. 24 BMW.

The championship leading No. 3 Corvette has caught back up to the field after an early race spin dropped them not only to the back of the field, but more than 30 seconds behind the leader. The Jan Magnussen and Antonio Garcia piloted car worked its way up through traffic to just behind the seventh place car in class.

Bruno Senna leads the Prototype class in the No. 22 Nissan DPi for Patron ESM ahead of the No. 52 Ligier LMP2 and No. 55 Mazda DPi.

The No. 38 continues leading in PC, after leading every session during the weekend and the No. 63 Ferrari 488 leads GTD.
