250 WRC Wins for Michelin!
250 WRC Wins for Michelin!
Michelin claimed its 250th FIA World Rally Championship victory with Sebastien Loeb’s victory at the Rally de Espana.
Although Michelin started winning major rallies before the creation of an official world championship in 1973, the WRC’s official statistics did not start until the 1973 Rally Monte-Carlo.
Michelin’s 250 victories have been claimed during periods when the series permitted open competition between tire manufacturers. MICHELIN tires have won on every type of terrain (from dry and wet asphalt, to ice, loose dirt, rough gravel, snow and mud) in 23 different countries and on six continents.
In all, Michelin has taken 50 drivers to the top of the podium and 15 manufacturers have claimed a WRC win. Michelin has 22 Manufacturer titles and 20 Drivers’ titles including the 2012 champion, Sebastien Loeb, who is by far the most successful driver on MICHELIN tires with 33 wins.
