The hours are ticking down at the 24 Hours of Le Mans and with 18 hours remaining, it’s still Porsche at the front of the field.

Inheriting the lead after Toyota’s pair of catastrophic exits before halfway, the No. 1 919 Hybrid has been biding its time at the front of the field.

Currently, Neel Jani maintains a 13 lap lead over the next closest car overall—the No. 38 Jackie Chan DC Racing LMP2 car—and a 17 lap lead over the sister No. 2 Porsche LMP1 car, the next closest car in class.

The closest race on the grid has been in GTE-Pro. A brief off in hour 17 by the No. 95 Aston Martin Racing machine has allowed the out-of-sequence No. 63 Corvette C7R to take the lead before pitting just before the six hours to-go mark—they resumed in second position, behind the No. 97 Aston Martin.

Jordan Taylor—currently in the car—Antonio Garcia and Jan Magnussen fought back from a debris-inflicted puncture early in the race to put themselves in a podium contention even before the Aston suffered its off, turning the second fastest lap in class on their way.

“We’re back now in the mix. We still have a good car, so hopefully we can fight for the win at the end of the race,” Jan Magnussen said after handing the car over to Taylor.

“There’s still some ways to go. We still have to stay out of trouble and stay with the leading pack, but right now things are looking good. We’re in with a shot for sure.”

In GTE-Am, it’s a Michelin 1-2-3 with a trio of Ferrari 488 GTEs leading the charge. The JMW Motorsport No. 84 leads from the Spirit of Race No. 55 and the all-American Scuderia Corsa No. 62.
