137 cars set to race with Michelin at SuperSebring
Michelin’s largest North American race event in its history is befitting of the SuperSebring moniker for next weekend’s races.
A total of 137 cars will race on MICHELIN® Pilot® race tires across four different series.
IMSA’s series comprise 106 of those 137 cars. The breakdown is below:
- WeatherTech SportsCar Championship: 38 (11 DPi, 2 LMP2, 8 GTLM, 17 GTD)
- MICHELIN Pilot Challenge: 43 (28 GS, 15 TCR)
- Prototype Challenge: 25 (LMP3)
Then, the FIA World Endurance Championship returns to Sebring for the first time in seven years. Its 34-car field features 31 different cars racing with Michelin (8 LMP1, 4 LMP2, 10 GTE-Pro, 9 GTE-Am). The Signatech Alpine Matmut LMP2 squad switches to Michelin for this race.
To accommodate this massive entry, Michelin’s workshop for Sebring will house nearly 16,000 race tires in a 24,000-square foot tent. A further breakdown of the tent will follow soon on MichelinRacingUSA.com.
FIA WEC teams will test on Saturday and Sunday. Monday and Tuesday are setup days, with a promoter test day scheduled for Wednesday before official weekend sessions begin later Wednesday afternoon.
