Oliver Gavin’s success secrets
Oliver Gavin’s success secrets
With three wins this year, Oliver Gavin and teammate Tommy Milner hold a handy lead for Corvette Racing in the GT class of the American Le Mans Series.
Gavin and Milner bounced back after a disastrous day at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park when gearbox problems sent them back to the paddock for extensive repairs.
The duo scored the victory at the last round at Mid-Ohio after Gavin pounced on warm tires to pass teammate Jan Magnussen and Flying Lizard Motorsports’ Joerg Bergmeister who both had just exited the pits.
Pitting one lap earlier proved to be the magic move by the No.4 Corvette squad.
With four races remaining, and three of those four races carrying extra points – Gavin and Milner still have some work to do to retain the championship lead through to the season-ending banquet.
Gavin spoke to Michelin Alley about the challenge ahead in the toughest GT racing contest in the world – Corvette v Ferrari v BMW v Porsche v Viper.
