Action Express Racing and Porsche North America pulled off dominant performances to both take 1-2 finishes in the Prototype and GTLM class as the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship raced at Road America.

Dane Cameron and Eric Curran took their second victory of the year aboard the No.31 Daytona Prototype ahead of their teammates Joao Barbosa and Christian Fittipaldi.

_RD41961That result – combined with a fifth place finish by Visit Florida Racing – has narrowed the points considerably. Richard Westbrook and Michael Valiante now have a one point lead over Fittipaldi/Barbosa with Cameron/Curran only a further single point adrift.

Porsche North America’s 1-2 was only clinched on the final lap. Nick Tandy and Patrick Pilet took the victory after fighting through from the back of the pack. Pilet started last after suffering a power loss during qualifying on Saturday.

Teammates Earl Bamber and Jorg Bergmeister finished second after Bergmeister had a wheel-to-wheel battle with Pierre Kaffer in the Risi Ferrari in the final couple of corners.

Kaffer had a small off track excursion in the final battle but held on to finish third.

Championship leaders Antonio Garcia and Jan Magnussen finished fourth to extend their points lead by four points.

Other class winners included Bruno Junqueira and Chris Cumming took the PC win after Conor Daly spun out of the lead on the final lap.

The GT Daytona victory went to Jeroen Bleekemolen and Ben Keating aboard their Dodge Viper.

The TUDOR United SportsCar Championship now heads to Virginia International Raceway where only the GTLM and GTD classes will do battle on August 23
