1-2-3 Equals 1-2-3 in GT Title Battles

October 10, 2013

_RD45575Incredibly, the top three cars in the MICHELIN® GREEN X® Challenge standings are identically placed in the American Le Mans Series GT championship heading into the final race, the 1000 Miles/10 Hour Petit Le Mans at Road Atlanta, October 19.

The #3 Corvette of Jan Magnussen and Antonio Garcia leads both championships, with a slender seven-point edge in the MICHELIN GREEN X Challenge standings over the second place BMW Team RLL Z4 GTE of Dirk Mueller.

In third, just 16 points adrift of their teammates is the #4 Corvette of Tommy Milner and Oliver Gavin.

The competition for the 2013 season championship in America’s premiere environmental motorsports competition, the MICHELIN GREEN X Challenge, has taken some interesting twists in recent events.

After the first ever “No Score” event in the program’s history at Baltimore, where a crash-shortened race saw many competitors avoid a fuel stop, the MICHELIN GREEN X Challenge competition for top Clean, Fast and Efficient performance was in full swing at the ninth stop of the ten race season, the Oak Tree Grand Prix at Virginia International Raceway.

A win there in the MICHELIN GREEN X Challenge by the #4 Corvette of Milner and Gavin has tightened the championship battle.

Points are awarded under the ALMS scoring system which allocates 24 points for a win, making the MICHELIN GREEN X Challenge GT Championship very much up for grabs as American Le Mans Series teams head to Road Atlanta for the 2013 season finale.

The Muscle Milk Pickett Racing Honda team has already clinched the 2013 MICHELIN GREEN X Challenge Prototype championship with five victories in the environmental competition held at every ALMS event.
